Instructions:
Construct a 5-7 page thesis paper on one of the following, numbered topics listed below. A “thesis
paper” is a paper that offers an organized defense of, or argument for, a particular claim (the thesis of the
paper). The paper must be typed, double-spaced, and written in a standard-sized font (usually 10- or 12-point).  Write a thorough, well-structured paper. Every sub-topic in the paper should contribute to proving the
argument or should discuss and answer a possible counter-argument. 
Remember that, each time you claim one of the authors says something, you must provide evidence from
the text (a quotation, properly cited) that supports your claim that the author said what you say he or she
said. 
Be
sure that you explain what you take the quotation to mean, what point you think the quotation makes, and
how that point relates to your thesis.
Every one of your points must be supported by argument and/or by
evidence from the text, and must be linked back to your overall thesis.
Topic:
1. How has capitalism shaped the concept of (the understanding of) as well as the experience of
disability? The thesis of your paper should be “I will argue that the economic system of capitalism has
helped to shape the concept as well as the experience of disability.” The rest of the paper should provide
an argument for your thesis and should explain how capitalism has helped to shape the concept of and
experience of disability in our society.
