GUIDELINES:
Write paper regarding mercury as a pollutant. This paper will be 15 pages (min.) in length (excluding references, figures and
tables). It should be based on primary literature (scientific journals – NO WEB SITES!) and should
provide a general overview of the environmental chemistry, toxicity, health risks, etc. 
The paper will start with a brief overview/introduction of the pollutant and its significance in the
environment. The paper can then take any direction, though sections including the environmental
chemistry, toxicity (human/wildlife), sources, health risks, as well as remediation/control are good
places to start. The paper will then end with a brief summary/conclusion. Figures and tables can (and
should) be used to demonstrate significant points and they should be placed after the text of the paper
and are not included in the 15 page count. Additionally, figures and tables should be referenced in the
text as they occur (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc). References will then be listed last on a separate page(s).
Minimally, 10 references should be used for the paper. References should be cited in the proper format.
