For this assignment, students will be required to select a current topic that represents a present-day social issue in the Black community. Students will conduct initial inquiry to find 4-5 reputable, race-conscious media sources to effectively demonstrate how youth are organizing and contributing to media representations and counter narratives on the selected topic. If the speech goes beyond 1 page I will add funds. Do not make it too Long and wordy because I will be presenting it in class and there is a time limit. Students will craft a professional presentation (persuasive speech) on their argument and make connections to 2-3 assigned course readings.( I will be attaching readings. If you need a reading that connects to your topic just communicate with me) Presentations should be coherent, well organized, and supportive of the main argument and critically examine histories of youth resistance and social transformation. Students are required to use effective presentation skills (cadence, body language, visual cues) throughout their presentation and rehearse the presentation to stay within the allotted time limit.
