Purpose:
This individual project aims to help the class review the cutting-edge research and
techniques in operations management and supply chain management. It also helps
students define a research problem, improve information processing abilities, enhance
critical thinking about current theories & methodologies, and identify promising
directions that future research could take.
Project Description:
Each student is responsible for selecting a topic(s) covered in the course. You need to
review TEN recent (2012~2023) peer-reviewed articles on the topic(s) that you choose.
You are expected to describe the major trends, elaborate on those important solutions
to past challenges, and identify the significant challenges in the future.
Requirements:
The research paper must be at least 1,500 words. Please use the following list as a
guide to write your review paper.
Research Paper (75%):
1. Introduction: provide a brief description of the topic(s) you select.
2. An overview of challenge(s) in this topic(s) of research and/or practice
3. A review of the approaches or techniques used in the past to overcome these
challenges. For each study
• Discuss the problem it addresses
• Describe the methods it used
• Provide the related theoretical foundation
• Show the results of the study
• Include the unresolved issues and study limitations
4. A summary of the status of the topic(s) in the last ten years
5. A description of the challenges for future research
6. Your understanding and comments on the topic(s)
7. A list of literature reviewed
