-there is no need to tell the story of the historical events because it would take 100 pages – this is a very complex and complicated aspect that is well documented (but too long to include in your essay!). 
-FOCUS on what the title suggests: on Syrian People and the effects of the ‘Arab Spring -Revolution-Civil War’ (it not even relevant how we name it!) on the people of the country.  Some remained in the country, but some others (in fact million!!!) left it. 
The effects that you should look at are social, economic, and cultural. Analyzing them implies looking at the outcomes (or changes, if any) that the “Arab Spring in Syrian version” produced in the Syrian society. 
Insist on the social aspect – and here you need to speak about displacement and refugees plus immigration!
Add the cultural aspect that should be emphasized – here you need to refer to how refugees and immigrants from Syria to many countries can or effectively preserve their culture! What are their means? 
It is one thing for those who currently live in other Arab countries (at least they speak the same language –  beyond the dialectal differences –  as Egyptians, Qataris, Saudis, etc., and they share many cultural features with the Arabs living in that country of “adoption”). But those who fled to non-Arabic speaking countries have a different situation. Analyze it! 
For instance, take Syrian refugees in Canada (some already immigrants, who have obtained the citizenship): what are their means to perpetuate their language, their cusine, their traditions, etc. – these are cultural aspects you should refer to! 
In Turkey: there are lots of Syrian refugees (research, try to find some indications of the number, but they might be at least 2 millions): are they still speaking Arabic in their economic, social, professional  life? Or only at home and with other Syrians? What about their children (some born in foreign countries)?  
I stop here, but I specified above the main aspects  I expect to be approached in the content of your essay. 
-organize the material well in sub-divisions and find your own references that suit your purpose!
