You
will be finding a current periodical (within the previous 10 years) and
relating a current event topic/event to the unit in geography that we are
studying.  Periodicals can be
from any magazine or journal that publishes on a regular basis (daily,
weekly, monthly, etc.).  You
may NOT use websites or blogs as your source, but you may use those to
find your periodical.  Find a topic
within each unit that you are interested in and expand on it
further.  Each review should be a
minimum of one page in length. 
Half of your paper should be a summary of the article while the
other half should be an analysis of how the article fits into the unit of
study.  For example, an article on
GPS and privacy could be connected with the location theme within the 5
Themes of Geography as a connection. 
Please include proper citation of your article on all
summaries.  You citation may
include your college type of citation (i.e. MLA, APA, ASA, Chicago,
etc.). Failure to include a proper citation will result in a loss of two points.

Why do we have them?  What are the
difficulties and means of establishing boundaries?  What are the effects of geography on wars in
the world?  Students will know the
differences between nation, states and nation-states.
