Assignment:

You were running a race and halfway through you felt a sharp twinge towards the side of your right hip that forced you to stop the race and rest. Two hours later you stood from a seated position and could not weight bear on your right leg due to hip pain. Your pain level while seated was 2 out of 10 (on a 10-point scale with 10 being the worst pain in the world and 0 being no pain) but significantly increased to ≥ 8 out of 10 when you tried active, or passive, range of motion in any cardinal anatomic plane of motion. In conjunction with pain, you also presented with muscle guarding, excessive heat, edema/swelling, weakness, and an inability to walk. `

Completely explain this rehabilitative process through each stage of inflammation/healing and include three sections for each stage of healing

-1) How will you determine each stage of inflammation and what basic physiological/chemical manifestations are occurring to elicit these mechanical findings, allowing you to identify the stage of inflammation you are in? You will report on each stage of healing from the stage you are currently in.

-2) What should you do in each stage of inflammation to ensure positive progression towards prior functional capacity (stage indications)?

-3) How will you know that you are progressively improving through each stage?
