Recommendations: Provide detailed recommendations with realistic projections, do not be
too general. Focus on what you want to change or add to the firm’s current course of action.
o Focus on specific actions that the firm can realistically take in the next 2-3 years. (For
instance, do not state that the firm should acquire Microsoft since this is unrealistic
given Microsoft’s market capitalization.)
o You choose your own recommendations. You can be as bold as you want. You just
have to present a good argument that your recommendation is a good move for the
company.
o Your recommendations should NOT be things the firm is already doing. For
instance, do not recommend that the firm should “continue its integration of X”.
o If you recommend an acquisition, explain why this is a good company to acquire and
how much they would have to pay for it. Can they afford it given their debt levels?
o Here are some ideas of recommendations to help you get started: acquisitions,
expansion in specific geographies, divestitures, change in spending levels (R&D or
marketing).
